MUSKOKA BAY RESORT

The Muskoka Bay Resort was designed to blend into its’ surroundings of the Canadian shield. The 62-unit condo has two sides to it: the forested entrance side, and the golf course side. Both are quite different, relating to their specific programs.

The entry facade of mixed glazing types has an ephemeral quality that makes the building disappear into the surrounding forest. The golf side is compartmentalized into smaller units with outdoor space, framing some of these individual units with wooden boxes acting as frames to the views. The lobby of the Muskoka Bay Resort provides a link between the two contrasting sides of the building. The fully-glazed lobby is a portal joining the driveway side with the golf side, it is also the place where the building jogs in order to reduce the scale and create a more interesting flow of hallways above.

Muskoka Bay Resort has eight typical unit types and two penthouse unit types.
